I was immediately caught by this article on Yahoo Food. We use a slow cooker evey week, many times twice a week. It's the best appliance for a busy family. I actually had to upgrade my slow cooker because I learned not all of them are created equally. Now- I don't burn or over cook my meals--- but I did before!
The biggest takeawy was one that is also likely to save me... and you... some money!
The author said buy those tougher, more affordable meats! The more tender foods- like fish- will break down quicker. You can't put salmon in a crock pot for the day and come home to a good meal. It will likely be over cooked and even burnt.
So- when shopping think about- brisket (my favorite), pot roasts, short plate and flank, chuck, round cuts, round and shank.
