Huge Storm Being Studied

While we are focusing our attention on Sandy down here on earth, scientists are studying a massive storm on Saturn. It happened 2 years ago and just now they are realizing that it was much more powerful than originally thought! NASA's Cassini spacecraft first detected the storm in December 2010. It sent temperatures soaring to 150 degrees Fahrenheit above normal.

The study's leader, Brigette Hesman said "This temperature spike is so extreme it's almost unbelievable, especially in this part of Saturn's atmosphere, which typically is very stable.
"To get a temperature change of the same scale on Earth, you'd be going from the depths of winter in Fairbanks, Alaska, to the height of summer in the Mojave Desert" Hesman said.
