Can Employees REQUIRE High Heels?

Photo: Huffington Post
NO- no they can't, it's illegal... but that didn't stop one British temp agency from telling a woman wearing professional flats to go buy some and when she didn't they sent her home! Now this has become a widely debated issue in Britain.

Here's the thing- if there were a dress code that both men and women had to adhere to that's one thing. I do believe in uniforms and certain dress code rules--- but requiring a professional woman to wear heels?!?

Successful, smart women don't need heels to be successful and smart! click to tweet

And seriously- ask any woman and she will tell you- most heels are painful!

In the article 'Britain Debates High Heels- Can Employers Require Them? we even learn that there was an actual study that found:

41% percent of women have cut an evening out or special occasion short because their shoes hurt!

I wasn't surveyed- but uhhhhh yeah! Been there, done that!

At the end of the day ladies as long as we dress professionally and put our best foot forward each day... it shouldn't really matter if that foot is wearing a ballet flat or a 3 inch heel. Do your thing! Show your talent. Stand tall- either way!
