Winter Whiner

This is me- trying to protect my boots with plastic garbage bags. Clearly they are not winter boots. It's kinda hard to remember things when you wake up in the middle of the night... even essentials like winter boots. So, I had to figure something out yesterday when the snow started flying! No use ruining a nice pair of boots, right?

Winter isn't my best friend. Perhaps it's because I complain about him. Yep, I'm a winter whiner. Sorry... I just am. It will be even more perplexing to you when I tell you...

I lived in Alaska for 9 years.

I tried my best to embrace the rugged outdoors in the winter when I lived in Alaska. My whole first year I sat on my rear on a mountain top... desperately trying to learn how to ski, snowboard or fall gracefully down the slope. It never clicked. Plus- there's the fact that I don't really like to be cold. I discovered I was much better at sitting in the chalet drinking cocoa.

I met and married my husband in Alaska. He loved the snow then and he loves it now. Seriously- who smiles when they're snow blowing?

Then again- he's always hot, so he can tolerate the cold temperatures better.

I know we live in the Northeast and I know the snow happens each year. There are no surprises- I still like being a part of the people who complain about it.

I have to admit that there's actually one part of all this snow that I look forward to... and that is working in news.
