Is it just me--- or is there something going on with our world? I don't remember a time when we've had so much severe weather across the country at one time. Between the devastating tornadoes to the wildfires, extreme hurricanes to severe thunderstorms- I think Mother Nature might be mad at someone.
The other day when we had that F2 tornado come visit Schenectady- I have to admit- I was quite nervous. I wouldn't tell my kids that as I shuffled them off to the basement to "hang out" for a while- but in all truth- I was nervous. When I was a young reporter I would love this extreme weather. I would run to it. In fact- I declared I wanted to see a tornado in person. I covered avalanches in Alaska, jumped on a black hawk helicopter to tour flooding devastation on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, covered my fair share of ice storms in Kentucky and nearly got burnt to a crisp in more than one wildfire in Nevada. Youth. So foolish. But looking back on those experiences- they seemed rare. The natural disasters we are experiencing seem to be becoming much more frequent.
What's causing this? Do I dare say the words "global warming"? Is it "global cooling"? What do you think? Or is it just the ebb and flow of life on earth? I'm really interested to get your take on this one. I've been thinking about it a lot. I hope our future generations don't have anything serious to worry about.
