This picture of an NYPD Police Officer giving a homeless man boots went viral yesterday and touched all our hearts. An Arizona tourist was in NYC on November 14th and snapped this picture of him performing this gesture. Come to find out he bought the shoes and some winter socks for him out of his own money.As a news person- I knew it was only a matter of time that one of the big news organizations would find out who he was.
When I woke up this morning and turned on the television I saw him speaking with CBS News. Officer Lawrence DePrimo credits his grandfather for being such a good natured and generous person.
CBS This Morning (7-9am) will have the full report this morning. I look forward to tuning in and hearing more.
UPDATE: NBC Today show will have the officer live on air this morning.
