The heart and soul of the New York Yankees, Team Captain Derek Jeter is out for the year with a broken ankle. It seemed like such a routine play. Jeter was attempting to grab a ground ball by Jhonny Peralta in the 12th when he twisted his ankle.

Manager Joe Girardi says he will likely be out for 3 months but that the good news is the injury is not career ending.

Yankees lost to the Tigers 6-4 Saturday night. Game 2 of the AL Championship series against the Tigers is today at 4pm. Hiroki Kuroda is starting on the mound and coming off 3 days rest.
