Felix Baumgartner
broke the sound barrier by hitting mach 1.24 in his 24 mile free fall from the edge of space Sunday. That's 833.9 miles per hour! It took him 9 minutes to reach land in the New Mexico desert safely. At times during his descent he looked as if he were tumbling out of control. He told reporters after the feat that he felt as if he were going to pass out.
Surprisingly no US television network station chose to air the event but it did air live on more than 40 television stations in 50 countries, including the Discovery Channel. Some 8-million people flocked to the live YouTube feed of the descent. No doubt he is to be the talk of the press today.
