I admire a person who shows resilience. Say what you want about Kathie Lee Gifford. I've heard many people (even some in my own business- who know how hard it is to make it on tv) criticize her for a variety of things- from how she used to talk too much about her children to how goofy they feel her hour of the Today show is.
My thought is- heck! She's a proud mom- so what, and don't hate on her for being real and just having a good time on tv. The TV business is hard to make it in. It's even more difficult on the level she is. She has reinvented herself over and over and has managed to maintain relevant for decades. She must be doing something right.
So when I saw THIS article and video of her explaining that her new Broadway show "Scandalous" is closing after just three weeks I wanted to hear how she handled it. She showed grace under pressure. This is a show in which she wrote and nurtured for years- and she has said numerous times that this was a dream come true for her to bring a show to Broadway. You know she is devastated- and yet she is able to see the light. Instead of focusing on the bad reviews- she thanked those who supported her. She asked people to come out and support not only her show- but other new shows that are being forced to close because Sandy wreaked havoc on tourism to the city.
She also mentioned that someone told her something to the effect of when one door closes another opens. It was nice that person reminded her of that- I'm sure, deep down inside, if there's anyone who knows that- it's Kathie Lee Gifford. She defines the word "resilience".
