Did you hear about the lottery scam where these two brothers Andy and Nayel Ashkar from Syracuse are
accused of tricking a customer out of a 5-million dollar lottery winning by telling the real winner- a married father of 2- that it was just a 5-thousand dollar winning card? When I saw we were reporting this story I admit- I was surprised they got away with the alleged crime. WOW I'm sure they're not smiling anymore because they are charged with grand larceny and conspiracy now! Apparently lottery officials became suspicious when the brothers waited 6-years to claim the ticket- right before it was set to expire.
Authorities say that Andy claims he bought it at his family's store in 2006 but waited so long to turn it in because his brother Nayel wanted to make sure his fiance would marry him for love and not money. Hmmmmm.
The victim- currently called John Doe apparently had a sinking feeling he'd been duped by the brothers- and is expected to be united with his money sometime soon. Good for him. But my question to you- if you thought you hit the lotto- would you triple check the card or would you have trusted the clerks?
Also- do you dream about hitting the lotto like I do? Seriously- it's a reoccuring dream I have~
