It appears Black Friday sales were down about 2 percent from last year. Apparently there were more people out there shopping- just fewer purchases. Why is that? Those Thursday sales that were so controversial. It appears shoppers liked having those earlier sales.
Looks like stores like J.C. Penny are going to have to give into the pressure of opening on Thanksgiving next year if they want to get a piece of the revenues. One shopper was quoted as saying she didn't know why those stores waited to open on Friday- she had already done all her shopping and she was just looking now.
